I think someone realised how bad of a month June was for me because July ended up being the best month of 2015 by far. Whoever you are, THANK YOU.
• I don't know what happened. Every week something better than the week before would occur. I was on such a low from Foo Fighters cancelling Wembley, anything slightly good I took firmly within my grasp.
• July started with a vacation. I've never been up North before, so being able to stay in Liverpool for three days was an amazing experience. I would honestly consider living there, that's how much I enjoyed it. I had no idea how proud Liverpool are over The Beatles. They are literally everywhere. EVERYWHERE. For me, it was like staying in heaven, but I wonder if people that live there get fed up with it. There is so much of it, it's hard to put into words.
I mean, I was a fan of the Beatles before, but I left Liverpool with a newfound appreciation for them. We did everything. I think The Magical Mystery Tour was the best part of that whole vacation. I can say that I've been to all their houses and everything else related to them now which is pretty neat.
• Kudos to me for making sure I get notifications for whenever Foo Fighters tweet something. Whilst we were having breakfast on the second day in Liverpool, I got a notification that they re-scheduled the canceled shows. And luckily for me, being a Wembley ticket holder, I got a unique code for a pre-sale the day after this was announced.
And I got them again! It's at Milton Keynes this time which is where I saw them the first time, and I honestly could not care less. As long as I get to see them, I don't care where they play. The grey Wembley cloud was finally lifted.
• I've really been enjoying Aquarius, and last month the series got picked up for a second season (thank God). And now, the show is finally gracing the UK airwaves through the fantastic channel that gives me all my American loves (Veep, Silicon Valley), Sky Atlantic.
I've been reviewing the show on here and we're two or three episodes away from the finale (sadly), but if you haven't yet seen it and you're in the UK, the show starts on August 11 at 9pm.
• Wow. The X-Files revival is still going strong. I think more things happened in July than in June. I'm not even going to delve into it here, that'll all be in my X-Files update that I'll post later today. There's just way too much, man.
In the meantime, enjoy this magnificent selfie of Duchovny and Anderson with some Lego figures of Mulder and Scully. That can be your teaser.
• Lana Del Rey is so unappreciated as a singer. She's popular, of course, but not in the way I think she should be. It's mainly from her songs being in the charts - like 'Video Games' - and people seem to overlook how talented she is. It's as though she's been transported from the 50s or 60s to this century. How she's managed to merge that era of music with genres like hip hop is beyond me.
Anyway, she's recently released a single from her long-awaited album 'Honeymoon', and it's as beautiful as I expected it to be.
• As much as I hate to admit it, for a solid year when I was 13 or 14 I listened to all that Disney channel shit, which included Demi Lovato. Thank God it was just a year, but her new video for her song 'Cool for the Summer' came up, and I was intrigued.
Turns out, I actually kind of dig it? I think it's the chorus, it sounds more rock than usual. It's rooted in synthpop, which I'm a fan of - mainly 80s synthpop, though. I remember she used to be really pop rock which is why I liked her in the first place, but then she went into dance music after she left Disney. And I hate dance music.
• Foo Fighters HBO documentary Sonic Highways is finally getting the recognition it deserves, with the Emmy's no less. It's been nominated for Outstanding Sound Mixing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera), Outstanding Sound Editing for Nonfiction Programming (Single or Multi-Camera), Outstanding informational Series or Special and Outstanding Directing for Nonfiction Programming. Three of which are up against the Cobain documentary, Montage of Heck.
• Speaking of music, David Duchovny's album has finally been released worldwide. I don't know if you can actually buy it, but it's now available in the UK on Spotify. I really like it, I wish I had the guts to do what he's done. It sounds like a combination of Bob Dylan and Lou Reed.
• Since 2015 is the year Marty goes Back to the Future, they're releasing an insane box set that comes with a Flux Capacitor and a ton of other unreleased material that I've never seen before. And as I hoped, they're releasing the second film back in the cinema in October. Just like when they released the first film back in 2010 for the 25th anniversary, of which I luckily got the chance to experience. I've managed to see my favourite film in on the big screen and it was honestly the best day of my life.
• Let's end this update on a groovy note, as the first trailer for Ash vs The Evil Dead came to light. Now I love The Evil Dead, so I wasn't too sure how they were going to pull a television show off. But since they announced Bruce Campbell was going to reprise his role, I was in for the long haul.
To be blunt, this series looks fucking hilarious. The writing seems so witty and just laugh out loud funny, and Campbell still has it. I've watched the trailer so many times now, I cannot wait till this Halloween.
