This one's going to be pretty short, as I'm planning on writing a bigger piece on the masterpiece that is John Carpenter's They Live. A film that burrows itself deeply within the trials and tribulations of Reaganomics in the 1980s, anti-consumerism and a commentary on capitalism it not only deserves its own piece but was destined to become one of my favorites.
At some point, I'm going to do an in-depth series on films that do not get enough attention. But, for now, here are my top five They Live quotes courtesy of the one, the only Nada (Roddy Piper).
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
5. "Brother, life's a bitch ... and she's back in heat."
4. *alien spraying perfume on herself* "That's like pairing perfume on a pig."
3. "Mama don't like tattletales."
2. "You know, you look like your head fell in the cheese dip back in 1957" *points to another woman* "You, you're okay. This one? Real fuckin' ugly. You see, I take these glasses off, she looks like a regular person doesn't she, huh? Put 'em back on, formaldehyde-face, that's what we got!"
1. "I have com here to chew bubblegum and kick ass ... and I'm all out of bubblegum."
