I saw Bruce Springsteen last weekend. Bruce Springsteen. Bruce. Springsteen. And the E-Street Band. WHAT.
Last Sunday marked my 30th concert since 2005, and what concert could be better to celebrate that with. I made the trek up to London without the parents which was scary in itself, but Wembley is a huge place. It's taken me since Sunday to actually let all of this sink in, it still feels like I dreamt the majority of it.
I don't think I've posted about a concert on here before (surprisingly, since I go to so many of them), but I'm not writing these as reviews. There's no way my head could ever critically write about these unless I had a job that needed me to. My head is such a mess after seeing heroes like The Boss in person, there's no way I can critique it.
Whilst my favorite concert will always be the Foo Fighters gigs that I've been to - obviously - but this. Man, this is totally up there as one of the best shows I have ever been to. The dude played for nearly 4 hours. 4 HOURS. I got tired just standing, I don't know how he or the E-Street Band do it. They played so seamlessly as well, I've never witnessed that in a show before. They played like when you use that fade in feature on Spotify, there were rarely any breaks.
And of course, there were the request signs that were fully embraced by Springsteen, bringing a little girl up to sing 'Waitin' on a Sunny Day' (one of my personal favs) which was adorable, a dude with a wonderful beard dressed up as Courtney Cox as she was in the 'Dancing in the Dark' music video, and someone who put so much effort into one of the signs it made Springsteen point out that this is how all the signs should be made. And how could I forget Springsteen downing in a woman's beer right in front of her with her obviously not wanting him to drink all of it, and taking another woman's sunglasses off her and preceding to wear them for a song.
I've been a fan of Bruce Springsteen since I was around six years old and have always wanted to see him live. From belting out his songs watching his music videos in my living room with my mum to singing along with him at a sold out gig in London. How the actual hell did that happen.
Although, I do have a bone to pick with The Boss and the band; how the hell do you not play 'Born in the U.S.A.'?! That was like a low blow, dude. I was so ready to belt that song out. But everything else made up for it.
